IBM Remote Supervisor Adapter (RSA) II

The Remote Supervisor Adapter II augments ISMP capability by allowing you to perform systems management functions whether your server is operational or not. The RSA II also provides full hardware based graphic console redirection, which means you can use a local desktop to access and control a remote server and receive system alerts in whatever form you choose. The RSA II supports SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security building on the security in RSA I. Deploying, updating and configuring your server is easier then ever with the Virtual CD and Floppy capability of RSA II. Via a Web-based interface, you can view and use all of these features as well as check the status of up to 24 servers, essentially creating a systems management network and maximizing your investment.

  1. To begin troubleshooting, check the following top issues. If your issue is listed, select the link, otherwise proceed to step 2.

    RSA II card IP address 4.9.1.1 cannot be updated
    Adapter is not recognized
    Blank screen during GUI Mode install (SUSE LINUX)
    Cannot save ASM logs
    Have not received a e-mail notice when alerts occur
    Mouse or keyboard input fails (Linux)
    Mouse or keyboard input fails (Novell NetWare)
    Mouse or keyboard input fails with remote console (NetWare)
    Remote graphics does not work or no graphis displayed
    RSA II-EXA installation in IBM eServer xSeries 445
    RSA experiencing non-maskable interrupts (NMI)
    RSA external power causing systems to wake
    RSA log fills up with "IP:Unknown higher layer protocol"
    RSA only displays 24 lines during a Telnet session
    RSA rejects a flash upgrade attempt
    RSA II open TCP/IP ports
    RSA II only detects LUN 0 under NetWare v6.5 SP1
    SNMP settings are not saving
    Viewing Windows blue screen options does not work
    Browsers supported with the RSA web interface
