Troubleshooting asset investment optimization in Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities

Troubleshooting

Problem

You can review this document to troubleshoot issues with asset investment optimization in IBM Maximo® Health and Predict-Utilities. Issues include the following:

  • Required information missing
  • Run analysis button is read-only
  • Analysis can’t start or analysis failed
  • Analysis was interrupted
  • Analysis ran but results are empty
  • A dash (-) is shown for some assets in the analysis results
  • Some assets missing from analysis results
  • Some strategies not available to compare
  • Assets added to the project are missing from the project
  • Analysis results are out of date
  • Assets can’t be removed from a project

Resolving The Problem

Before you begin troubleshooting, ensure that the following information is true:

For more information about configuring an investment project, see Configuring an investment project.

Required data missing

If required data is missing, assets might not be added to the project or might not be included in the analysis. The action for specifying required data depends on the specific data that is missing. Review the following list to determine how to specify missing data.

  • Asset type: To specify an asset type, open the source system, locate the asset record, and specify the type there. Depending on how the application administrator configured the integration between Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities and source EAM system, it might take a few minutes for Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities to show the data after it is specified or updated. If the source EAM system is not Maximo Manage, you can more quickly synchronize data by enabling event listeners for data that is related to asset investment optimization, such as assets, locations, work orders, and inspections.
  • Risk scores: You need to configure or add the assets to a scoring group that includes a risk score calculation on the Scoring page. For more on configuring and adding assets to a scoring group, see Getting started for application users. Scores are not automatically calculated when a scoring group is activated.

You can manually calculate or recalculate scores for individual assets by opening an asset and then selecting Actions > Recalculate scores. To recalculate all active scores for all assets in scoring group, in the scoring group, in the Scores table, click Recalculate scores.

  • End of life curve model: Contact your data scientist. A predicted risk curve model is also required, but the model is automatically generated based on the other required data.
  • Effective age score or installation date: To determine which assets are missing an installation date, you can review the Missing installation date work queue. To configure effective age scoring, you need to configure or add the assets to a scoring group that includes an effective age score calculation on the Scoring page.
  • Criticality score: Configure or add the assets to a scoring group that includes a criticality score calculation on the Scoring page.

*Note: Decommissioned assets cannot be added to a project. If an asset in the project is decommissioned, the asset is removed from the project.

A replacement plan template is also required for each asset type in the project. You can specify the template before you create the project or on the Create project page.

Run analysis button is read-only
The Run analysis button is read-only if none of the assets in the project have the required data to run the analysis. A "Required data missing" message also occurs. For more information, see the Required data missing section of this article.
Analysis can't start or analysis failed
This issue occurs for several reasons. To resolve the issue:
  • Check that you have the required data to run the analysis. For more information, see the Required data missing section of this article.
  • Check your network connection status and if issues exist, rerun the analysis.
  • Check for issues in Maximo Scheduler Optimization, such as issues with the model name or other metadata. If you have the job ID, use the job ID to locate the job in Maximo Scheduler Optimization.
To access the logs in Maximo Scheduler Optimization, complete the following steps:
  1. In the Suite navigator, on the Add-ons tab, click Scheduler Optimization.
  2. Click the Jobs tab.
  3. Search for the job ID that was in the message.
  4. Click the three-dot menu and then click Download log

Analysis was interrupted

If the analysis was interrupted, an issue likely occurred in Maximo Scheduler Optimization that caused the job to stop or the job was manually stopped. If you have the job ID, complete the following steps to review the logs for the job in Maximo Scheduler Optimization:

  1. In the Suite navigator, on the Add-ons tab, click Scheduler Optimization.
  2. Click the Jobs tab.
  3. Search for the job ID.
  4. Click the three-dot menu and then click Download log
Analysis ran but analysis results are empty

If an analysis was run successfully but the results section shows no results, it is likely that all assets were excluded from the analysis because none of them need optimized investments. Your current plan meets the strategy objective.

To retrieve a complete list of excluded assets and why the assets were excluded, complete the following steps:
  1. In the Suite navigator, on the Add-ons tab, click Scheduler Optimization.
  2. Click the Jobs tab.
  3. Search for the job ID.
  4. Click the three-dot menu and then click Download Attachment. The downloaded file contains a list of excluded assets and the reason the assets were excluded.
Dash (-) shows for some assets in the analysis results
If a dash (-) is shown for assets, those assets do not require a change in planning or strategy to meet the strategy's objective.
Some assets missing from analysis results
If assets in the project are not included in your analysis results, those assets are likely missing required data or are decommissioned. For more information on the required data, see the Required data missing section of this article.
To retrieve a complete list of excluded assets, complete the following steps:
Some strategies not available to compare
When you click Compare strategies, some strategies aren't shown because only successfully analyzed strategies, which are indicated by a checkmark, can be compared.

Assets added to the project are missing

If an asset is decommissioned, the asset isn't added to the project, though other selected assets are added. To resolve the issue, determine whether the assets are decommissioned. If the assets are not decommissioned, try adding them again.

Analysis results are out of date
If the results are out of date, a "Results are out of date" message occurs. Rerun the analysis to generated updated results.

Assets can't be removed from a project

If an error message occurs when you remove assets from a project, try removing the assets again. If the issue persists, contact your application administrator to manually remove the assets from the project in the database.
