Deploy Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities

By deploying and activating the Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities industry solution, you make it available for use in Maximo Application Suite.

The following steps are specific to the Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities industry solution. You must complete the pre-deployment and deployment steps before you activate the industry solution. By default, the industry solution is not available to any users until the industry solution is completely activated and users are granted access.

Predeployment steps

The following components must be configured before you deploy Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities:

If you plan to use the data loader, you also must configure IBM® App Connect Enterprise 12.0.2.0-r2, and your dashboard must use an AppConnectEnterpriseProduction license. When you install the dashboard, do not select the Use Common Service option. Do not use an instance of IBM® App Connect Enterprise that is on IBM® Cloud. You must install IBM® App Connect Enterprise in a Cloud Pak for Data cluster. Maximo Application Suite includes an entitlement to IBM® App Connect Enterprise 12.0.1.0. You must update to 12.0.2.0-r2. For more information, see Configuring IBM® App Connect.

Deploying Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities

These deployment steps are completed in Maximo Application Suite.

  1. In the Suite catalog, on the Industry solutions tab, click the Health and Predict - Utilities tile.
  2. On the Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities catalog page, verify the information.
  3. Click Continue. If there are insufficient AppPoints available to deploy this application, you can still click Continue to complete the application configuration. The application automatically deploys when the required number of AppPoints are available.
  4. Determine how you want to keep the industry solution up to date by choosing one of the following options:
    • Click Channel subscription to subscribe to the upgrade channel. When new versions become available, they are added to the channel and updated in your instance either automatically or after manual approval. If you want to manually approve upgrades, turn off the Automatic approval toggle.
    • Click Manual to manually select the upgrades that you want to deploy, then choose Deploy version 8.3.0. For more information, see Upgrade methods.
  5. Optionally, in the Dependencies section, for IBM® App Connect, select Configure and then specify the IBM® App Connect dashboard URL and user.
  6. Deploy Maximo Health. Before you begin this step, ensure that you have deployed and configured Maximo Scheduler Optimization. If Maximo Health is not deployed, the deployment wizard walks you through Maximo Health deployment. For more information, see Deploy Maximo Health. Ensure that you complete all steps to deploy and activate the application and that you enable asset investment optimization. If you do not deploy Maximo Health as a part of Maximo Manage, you do not need to complete the system integration or use the data loader until after Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities is deployed and activated. Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities uses the same database as Maximo Health.
  7. Click Deploy and then Begin deployment. Clicking Deploy does not make the industry solution available. After you click Deploy, the deployment process starts in OpenShift. The estimated time and configuration time that are listed represent the estimated time that it takes to configure and deploy the industry solution. The times include both front-end configuration work and back-end processing and configuration. You can track the deployment process on the details page or, as an administrator, log in to the OpenShift web console and from the OpenShift cluster, in the navigation menu, click Workloads > Pods. Ensure that you are reviewing either all projects or only the Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities, which is named mas-instance name-hputilities. The Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities operator supports single namespace deployment.

As the industry solution is deployed, the following events occur in the following order in the OpenShift:

  1. The ibm-mas-hputilities-operator-string pod is created, and the status is changed to Running.
  2. A instance name-hputilities-entitymgr-ws-string pod is created. You can open the logs for these pods to monitor the deployment. The status is changed to Running.
  3. Three instance name-hputilities-model-engine-string pods are created, and the status is changed to Running.

string is a randomly generated set of numbers and letters.

After the status of all pods is Running, the industry solution is ready to be activated. You activate Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities to configure a workspace and give users access to the industry solution.

Activating Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities

If the deployment is not complete, the Activate button is inactive. The industry solution might appear in the Suite navigator but might not be ready to use. Activating the industry solution does not automatically grant your users access to the industry solution.

Complete the following steps to activate the industry solution:

  1. On the Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities page, click Activate.
  2. On the Watson Studio page, configure your Watson Studio instance.
    1. Specify the root URL for Watson Studio, for example, https://{rootURL}/projects/{projectID}/assets?context=icp4data.
    2. Specify the Watson Studio username.
    3. Specify the Watson Studio password.
    4. Click Show advanced settings to configure the Watson Studio project ID. To retrieve the project ID, open your project and then copy the project ID from the page URL.
    5. Save your changes.
  3. Click Activate
  4. On the confirmation page, click Activate. The estimated deployment time that is listed represents the estimated time that it takes to activate the industry solution. You can track the activation process on the Maximo Health and Predict - Utilities details page or review the logs for the instance name-hputilities-entitymgr-ws-string pod.

After the industry solution is completely activated, the industry solution is available in the Suite navigator and at fixed URLs.

      • hputilities.health.endpoint
      • hputilities.watsonstudio.endpoint
      • hputilities.watsonstudio.username
      • hputilities.watsonstudio.password
      • hputilities.watsonstudio.projectid
    4. If you are going to use the data loader, for App Connect, verify that the data loader bar and configuration are uploaded.

To verify that the data loader bar is uploaded, on the App Connect dashboard, click Bar Files and ensure that an ibm-mas-hputilities-830-string-data-loader bar exists.

To verify that the data loader configuration is uploaded, on the App Connect dashboard, click Configurations and ensure that the following configurations are listed:

      • ibm-hputilities-string-healthurl
