Upgrading from an Extended Update Support (EUS) or a Long Term Support (LTS) release to a Continuous Delivery (CD) release

Use these instructions to upgrade your IBM® App Connect Operator and existing App Connect Dashboard, App Connect Designer, switch server, and integration server instances from Extended Update Support (EUS) or Long Term Support (LTS) to Continuous Delivery (CD).

Before you attempt an upgrade to a CD release, you must first upgrade your existing EUS or LTS release to the latest supported version. If using EUS, ensure that your IBM App Connect Operator and instances are first upgraded to the 1.1.10 EUS release. If using LTS, ensure that your IBM App Connect Operator and instances are first upgraded to the latest 5.0.x LTS release.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have cluster administrator authority with cluster-admin permissions.

Procedure

To upgrade from an EUS or LTS release to a CD release, complete the following steps:

  1. Upgrade your existing EUS or LTS Operator:
  2. Upgrade your existing EUS or LTS instances:
    • Upgrade your existing instances of the App Connect Dashboard, App Connect Designer, switch servers, and integration servers to the latest EUS custom resource (or operand) version.

Review all the upgrade considerations that might require you to take further action, and after the upgrade is complete, check that your flows and integration servers are running as expected. For more information, see Upgrading your instances in the EUS documentation.

    • Upgrade your existing instances of the App Connect Dashboard, App Connect Designer, switch servers, and integration servers to the latest LTS custom resource (or operand) version.

For more information, see Upgrading from an earlier to a later 5.0.x version of the IBM App Connect Operator in the LTS documentation.

  3. Upgrade your latest EUS or LTS Operator to the latest CD version of the IBM App Connect Operator. The steps are similar to those documented in Upgrading the IBM App Connect Operator from an earlier to a later Continuous Delivery (CD) version (other than the starting EUS or LTS Operator version).
  4. Upgrade your latest EUS or LTS instances of the App Connect Dashboard, App Connect Designer, switch servers, and integration servers to the latest CD-specific custom resource (or operand) version. The steps are similar to those documented in Upgrading your instances.
  5. Ensure that your cluster is at a supported Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform version for the latest CD release. For more information, see Upgrading your cluster to Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.12 or 4.14.
