Support for Certified Kubernetes deployment
Kubernetes is used in systems to deploy, scale, and manage applications in the cloud. Kubernetes is not a traditional, all-inclusive PaaS (Platform as a Service) system because it operates at the container level rather than at the hardware level. Digital Business Automation for Multicloud supports deployment of its cloud-native applications at the container level to provide choice and flexibility about which PaaS you want to use. IBM Business Automation Insights new capabilities
- Capture IBM Operational Decision Manager business data
- Business Automation Insights can
now store and process decisions that are emitted as events by Operational Decision
Manager.
For access to getting started material, dashboard samples, and Jupyter Notebooks, see IBM Operational Decision Manager samples.
- Kubernetes Ingress
- Self-signed certificates do not provide sufficient protection
to the ingress resource created in previous versions. To secure the Business Automation Insights services,
you must create your own resource with your own set of trusted certificates.
The ingress controller on each of your nodes routes the HTTPS requests
to the newly exposed NodePort or ClusterIP.
Learn more about exposing Business Automation Insights services.
- Kafka
-
- Automatic topic creation
- If you do not create Kafka topics before initial configuration of Business Automation Insights, they are created automatically. However, the default automatic Kafka configuration is not sized for a production environment.
- Egress topic
- You can disable the Kafka egress topic by using Helm chart commands, for example to save resource consumption by job execution.
- Certificates
- You no longer need to set the kafka.caCertificate parameter. Learn more about Kafka parameters.
- Apache Flink job log levels
- You can use ConfigMaps to define log levels.
- Elasticsearch
- The antiAffinity parameters are now editable.
- Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
-
- File size of anonymization rules
- The size of the file for anonymization rules is no longer limited to 4096 bytes.
- Client/server communication
- You can use ConfigMaps to configure communications from the HDFS client to the server.
- Disabling HDFS
- If you set up HDFS storage for Business Automation Insights and no longer require an HDFS server, you can now disable it by using Helm chart commands.
- Miscellaneous productivity enhancements
- Whenever you need savepoints, for example to upgrade your Business Automation Insights release,
or to disable HDFS or the Kafka Egress topic, you can now use a script
to create and retrieve those savepoints.
You can also use folders to register checkpoints.
- Security
- The procedure to secure communications from the BPMN event emitter to Kafka requires fewer parameters.
- BPMN events
- Business Automation Insights supports events to monitor the lifecycles of processes and activities, looped activities, tasks, gateways, timers, and tracking groups.
- Case events
- Case tasks are renamed to Case activities.
Learn more about Case event types and formats.
About case activity dashboards might, see also Table 2.
