WebSphere Automation can manage WebSphere Application Server embedded with other IBM and other third-party products. The set of supported products that embed WebSphere Application Server or WebSphere Application Server Liberty are listed. Any restrictions or limitations are noted. Products that are known to not be compatible with WebSphere Automation also are listed. Any product that embeds WebSphere Application Server and is not listed as supported or known to be incompatible is supported per the "Other Configurations" policy.

Supported features
The following supported features and known limitations apply to WebSphere Automation when it is used with an instance of WebSphere Application Server that is embedded in other products.
| Capability | Restrictions and limitations for embedding product |
|---|---|
| CVE detection | CVE detection is limited to WebSphere Application Server and IBM Java™ SDK. WebSphere Automation does not detect CVEs for the embedding product. |
| Fix history | Fix history is limited to WebSphere Application Server and IBM Java SDK. WebSphere Automation does not track or record fix history for the embedding product. |
| Fix deployment | Deployment of fixes is limited to WebSphere Application Server and IBM Java SDK. The deployment of updates or fixes for the embedding product is not supported. |
| Memory leak analysis | No known limitations or restrictions apply to memory leak analysis for embedded products. WebSphere Automation can analyze the Java virtual machine (JVM) heap dump, and can identify leaks in WebSphere Application Server, the embedding product, or other components deployed to the JVM. |
Other embedding products
Any use of WebSphere Automation with WebSphere Application Server embedded in an embedding product that is not listed in Supported embedding products can receive support from IBM until IBM determines that the product is incompatible with WebSphere Automation, or that limitations or restrictions on use apply.
- Customer support (Level 1/Level 2)
-
Customer Support uses commercially reasonable efforts to provide the same level of support as that provided for a supported product that embeds WebSphere Application Server, if it is determined that the problem would also exist in a supported product or if a commercially reasonable resolution to the problem is available.
Resources for commercially reasonable problem determination are applied until a resolution is provided, or until it is determined that the problem would not exist except for the use of the substituted embedding product, and no commercially reasonable resolution exists.
If it is determined that the problem would not exist but for the use of the substituted (similar or like) embedding product, and no commercially reasonable resolution is available, use of WebSphere Automation with WebSphere Application Server embedded in an embedding product is considered incompatible and unsupported.
- Product support (Level 3)
-
Development does not know yet whether these configurations belong to the supported or incompatible list. Therefore, no reliable statement of how they might perform with WebSphere Automation can be provided.
The ability to perform as specified is based on the extent to which the substituted embedding product is programmatically, functionally, and operationally compatible with its equivalent supported embedding product. IBM makes no representation about the reliability, availability, and performance in this environment.
