Replacing the rear USB cable in the 8247-42L, 8286-41A, or 8286-42A

Learn how to replace the rear USB cable that is part of a service action.

To complete the following procedure, you must have removed the rear USB cable from the system. For instructions, see Removing the rear USB cable from the 8247-42L, 8286-41A, or 8286-42A.

To replace the rear USB cable, complete the following steps:
  1. Ensure that you have the electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap on and that the ESD clip is connected to an unpainted metal surface. If not, do so now.
  2. Insert the rear USB cable housing (A) into the opening on the rear of the system at location P1-T1, P1-T2, as shown in Figure 1, or Figure 2 for the stand-alone version of the 8286-41A.
  3. Route the cable along the right side of the chassis.
  4. Plug the other end of the rear USB cable (C) into the connector on the system backplane.

  5. Replace the system I/O card. For instructions, see Replacing the system I/O card from the system with the system power turned off.
