What is the limit of work item ID numbers in IBM Rational Team Concert?

Cause

You have a Rational Team Concert environment with many projects. You want to be aware of the upper limit of work item IDs you can use for the server.

Answer

The read only attribute of a Work Item's ID in Rational Team Concert is of the type Integer. An Integer can have up to 2,147,483,647 numbers for 32-bit Java. It has not been updated since Rational Team Concert's migration to 64-bit which has an increased range of Integer to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807.

The upper limit of Work Item IDs is still approximately 2 billion.
