When building a Maven project, blank errors are listed

Troubleshooting


Problem

In IBM Rational Application Developer (RAD), when you build a Maven project errors are listed in the Problems view without a Description, Resource or Path.

Symptom

The following steps re-create the problem scenario:
 
  1. Create or import your Maven dynamic web project inside RAD
  2. Compile and build the project
  3. Check the Problems view
  4. RESULT: Errors are present, but the Description, Resource and Path are blank.  The Location field is Unknown and the Type is Validation Message.  In addition, there is a dialog box that states The validation completed, 5 errors were discovered. 111 resources were validated in 2 seconds.

Resolving The Problem

  1. Select Windows > Preferences > Validation
  2. Deactivate the Web (2.2 - 2.4) Validator
  3. Click Apply and OK
  4. Rebuild your project
