Question & Answer
Question
What is the policy regarding support for Virtualization software (VMware, Citrix for example) in MCF application?
Answer
Sterling has not yet certified the Sterling MCF
Application with Virtualization software as of Sterling 8.0.
Sterling, however, recognizes that customers
deploy Virtualization software on enterprise servers in great numbers. Given
the nature of the Sterling application architecture, there is no reason to
believe that the software will not run with Virtualization software. However,
it is necessary that the vendors of the other required components (e.g.
Application Server, JDK, 3rd Party products etc) that the Sterling MCF
application supports also certify their products to run on the same
Virtualization software.
Sterling Support
will investigate/troubleshoot problems reported on the Sterling application
running in a virtual environment. If Sterling Support is unable to reproduce
the problem on a non-virtual environment, then they may ask the customer to
verify on a non-virtual environment.
Please contact Sterling Commerce Support for any further queries on
virtualization support.
