What does the Effective Date (start and end) represent for a matter?

Question & Answer

Question

In the Atlas application, what does the Effective Date (start and end) mean for a matter?

Answer

The Effective Date of a matter represents the start date and end date for that matter in terms of the lifecycle within the Atlas application. It can represent the start date and end date for that legal matter itself in relation to the company, but there is no direct validation that occurs.

The start date value for the Effective Date is set manually for the matter. Typically this is done during the creation of the legal matter in the Atlas application. The end date value for the Effective Date will automatically be set when the legal matter is closed in the Atlas application.
