What is the difference between a standalone/node-locked license and how do I check what type of license I have?

A floating license may be used by any machine on the network and a node-locked or standalone license is locked to a particular host and cannot be used by any other system.

To check what type of license you have, open the license file in a text editor. Check each FEATURE line for a parameter called HOSTID or DISK_SERIAL_NUM. If every feature line in the license file has this parameter, it means that the license is a node-locked license.

If this parameter does not exist in each FEATURE line, and the hostid or mac address is mentioned only in the SERVER line then it is a floating license.
