WebSphere fails to upgrade under following conditions:

Symptom
WebSphere fix pack fails to upgrade with following (or similar) error message.
When trying to uninstall the interim fix, following (or similar) error message prevents the interim fix from being uninstalled. Although the message says failure, the uninstallation is actually successful. Please ignore the error and proceed to upgrade the fix pack.
Cause
There was a bug in the interim fix packaging tool. The APAR interim fix functionality is not affected.
Resolving The Problem
To upgrade fix pack successfully,
- Uninstall the interim fix PH25216 and/or PH26354. Ignore uninstallation errors and proceed with the fix pack upgrade.
- For WebSphere 9.0 release, upgrade to 9.0.5.6 and later version. For WAS8.5.5 release, upgrade to 8.5.5.18 and later version.
