Troubleshooting
Problem
This technote describes alternate steps, not covered in IBM® Rational® Application Developer product documentation, that you can take to create new server profiles and server configurations for the version 6.x WebSphere® Test Environment. Creating additional server profiles and configurations allows you to have more than one version 6.x WebSphere Test environment configuration to be selectable in the servers view.
Resolving The Problem
An alternate way to create server profiles and configurations for the WebSphere Test Environment is to use the pctWindows.bat tool found in runtimes\base_v6\bin\ProfileCreator to create a new profile with a name and port number you specify. Write down the RMI (Bootstrap Port) and SOAP port settings for use in step 3 below. Or you can use the Profile wizard in Rational Application Developer (RAD) to create a server profile: Window -> Preferences -> Server -> WebSphere -> Create Profile: In the Profile wizard, accept the default values. You will need to record the port values.
Steps to define the server:
- In RAD, either:
- Select New-> Other, expand Servers and choose Server.
OR - In the Servers view in RAD, right click and select New Server.
The Server dialog is displayed. - In the New Server dialog:
- Select the host name and the Server type and click Next.
- Select the WebSphere profile name that you created from the dropdown menu.
- Change the RMI or SOAP port in the server connection type box to whatever you set those values at in Step 1.
- Leave servername set to "server1"
- Click Finish
