User Does Not Have F1 Help Text

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document describes actions to take if a user encounters message CPF6E31 - Help information is not available.

Resolving The Problem

The help text displayed when the F1 Help key is pressed depends on the following:

o

Option 2 for the operating system, OS/400 Online Information, must be installed on the system and have a status of *COMPATIBLE on the Display Installed Licensed Programs screen.
o Library QHLPSYS must be in the library list for the user.
Users for which either or both of the above two requirements are not met will receive message CPF6E31 - Help information is not available when they press the Help key. Use the GO LICPGM command and select Option 10 to Display installed licensed programs to check if the Online Information option has been installed. If it has not been installed, it must be installed from the installation media.

Use the DSPLIBL command to display the library list to determine if the QHLPSYS library is in the library list. If it is not in the library list, it should be added to the system library list. This can be changed by changing the system value QSYSLIBL: WRKSYSVAL QSYSLIBL then selecting Option 2=Change. The following libraries are usually at the top or near the top of the system library list: QSYS, QSYS2, QHLPSYS, and QUSRSYS.
