Upgrading Rational SCM Adapter plug-in from version 6.0.25 to the latest version causes ClearCase menu to disappear

Problem

This technote explains why upgrading from an earlier IBM® Rational® ClearCase® SCM Adapter plug-in (version 6.0.25) to the latest version (6.0.48 or later) using the web update inside Eclipse™, causes ClearCase to disappear from the menu bar.

Cause

After upgrading SCM adapter plug-in from 6.0.25 to the latest version, the ClearCase menu and settings in the Windows > Preferences > Team menu disappear.

A change was made in the plug-in to accommodate a requirement in Rational Application Developer® to have the ClearCase capability turned off by default.

Resolving The Problem

Enable (or disable) the ClearCase SCM adapter as follows, and the ClearCase menu bar will appear on the menu bar.

1. Open Eclipse workspace
2. Click Window > Preferences
3. Expand General and click Capabilities
4. Click Advanced...
5. Expand Team and check ClearCase SCM Adapter
6. Click OK and click OK to exit and save changes
