An upgraded report fails with RSV-VAL-0010 XQE-PLN-0001

Troubleshooting


Problem

A report that worked previously in 10.1.1 using Compatibility Query Mode was migrated to Cognos 11.0.9 and using Dynamic Query Mode. The report runs successfully however when validating the report, it issues an error.

Symptom

RSV-VAL-0010 Failed to load the report specification. XQE-PLN-0001 Internal error. The query could not be planned by the Query Service: java.lang.StackOverflowError

Cause

Due the master detail relationship

Resolving The Problem

The report designer should review the master detail relationship and complete the following.
The Master-Detail relationship that was established in the sectioned list was established on the inner list based on the same query.
Additionally there was a master detail relationship established on the outermost section, again based on the same query.
Removing the master detail relationship on the inner list while leaving the master detail relationship on the outermost section resolved the issue.
