Unsupported web servers in Web Server Plug-ins Configuration Tool for WebSphere Application Server V9.0

Troubleshooting


Problem

When you configure web server plug-ins by using the Web Server Plug-ins Configuration Tool in the WebSphere Customization Toolbox, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 7 or IBM Lotus Domino 7 or 8 web servers can be selected even though they are not supported. Oracle iPlanet and Sun Microsystems Sun ONE can also be selected for operating systems on which they are not supported.

Symptom

You can select the unsupported web servers, but the tool cannot complete the configuration and fails.

Resolving The Problem

Do not attempt to configure web server plug-ins for IIS 7, Lotus Domino 7, or Lotus Domino 8. Configure web server plug-ins for Oracle iPlanet or Sun Microsystems Sun ONE only on the HP-UX and Solaris operating systems, which are the supported operating systems for these web servers.

To resolve this issue so that the unsupported web servers are not displayed, you can optionally install fix pack 9.0.0.2 or a later fix pack. Refer to the Recommended Updates page for delivery information: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27004980
