Unable to stop IBM HTTP Server (powered by Apache) on z/OS using MVS stop command.

Troubleshooting

Problem

The IHS (powered by Apache) on z/OS has been setup to use a proc or job to start and stop the server as discussed here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSAW57_7.0.0/com.ibm.webs… The httpd.conf is configured to load mod_zos_cmds.so as well. However, stopping the server using 'P ,ACTION='stop'' works fine to stop the server.

Symptom

A dump of the region will show threads in waitpid, indicating the daemon region is waiting on status from other child processes. A display of the IHS processes (for example, using D OMVS,A=ALL), may show the server processes owned by different ID's.
