Troubleshooting
Problem
You cannot perform a typical installation of IBM Business Process Manager or IBM Integration Designer on Linux or UNIX-based platforms because the path for IBM Installation Manager contains spaces.
Symptom
The typical installation process fails with an error in bpm.offering.syserr that is similar to the following message:
install_location/launchpad/content/scripts/runCommand.sh: Line 9: /opt/IBM/Installation: There is no such file or directory
Cause
A typical installation is not supported when you install the product on a Linux or UNIX-based platform and IBM Installation Manager is already installed in a directory that has space characters in it.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve the problem, complete one of the following options:
- Perform a custom installation instead of a typical installation. The custom installation process calls IBM Installation Manager directly to do the installation and does not fail because of the space character in the path.
- Uninstall IBM Installation Manager and any other offerings that you have previously installed with that instance and reinstall them in a directory without the space character.
