Tips for troubleshooting the Planning Analytics for Excel (PAfE) add-in

Is this the first action button you've created? Or have previous ones worked?
Does this button run a process and if so is it running fine in Architect?
Have you checked your tm1server.log for process errors if your button was running a TI process?
Does this button run a process and if so is it running fine in Architect?

- Send the screenshot of Excel menu File > Options > Add-ins to check what Excel add-ins are active? These should be: IBM Cognos Office Reporting BI Add-in and IBM Cognos Office Reporting TM1 Add-in.
- Obtain your version via PAfE ribbon Help > About > click on Show Version and attach contents.
- Let IBM Support know your Excel version (via File > Account).
If the above is all in order collect a debug log.
- Activate debug level logging: PAfE Options > "IBM" tab > Scroll down and in "Logging" section select "All" for "Log Level".
- Click "View logs" in order to locate the logs folder and reproduce the error, attach newest Zipped log to your support case.
If you have grayed out connections that cannot be disconnected or reconnected:
Try logging out of Office 365 then closing Excel. Use Task Manager > Details to ensure that no Excel processes are still running, if so end them. Restart Excel and see if the connections are normal again.
Try deleting the connection via PAfE ribbon > Options > IBM, and adding it back again.
If the above fails to solve this, log an IBM Support case and ask for you Web Tier to be checked for high CPU activity or high RAM usage. If you are informed that the Web Tier is congested, arranged a restart of your web (TM1 / pmpsvc) service to be done by IBM Support. This will require 15 mins downtime of your Web Tier. Your TM1 server instances that are running will remain undisturbed.
