Abstract
This fix pack is a cumulative fix release and addresses some new APARs and internally found issues since the release of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 8.1.0 Fix Pack 28.
Download Description
Java 8 Important Information
This upgrade uninstalls the existing IBM Java 7 and installs the latest version of the IBM Java 8 JRE. If any of the Java 7 files were modified since the v8.1 installation, then these modified files are removed during the upgrade process, except for the java.security file. Before you perform the upgrade, back up these modified files to a private location, then after the upgrade reapply the modifications. The Java 8 java.security file has significant differences to the Java 7 java.security file. Review the default Java 8 java.security file and update it to comply with the existing settings in the Java 7 java.security file.
IBM Java 8 does NOT run on some older versions of operating systems, which include the following operating systems:
- AIX 6.1 before Tech Level 9
- Older versions of Linux (due to a GLIBC 2.7 requirement)
- Solaris SPARC 32 bit (IBM Java on Solaris SPARC is 64 bit only)
The following defect solution is included in this release:
IJ39445 Provide support for OMNIbus to run on AIX 7.3 IJ39796 To address possible security issues, the JRE for Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1.0 is updated on Solaris to IBM JRE 8.0 SR7 FP5 and on AIX, Linux, Linux for System z and Microsoft Windows to IBM JRE 8.0 SR7 FP6. IJ40065 Running the MIB Manager application on Solaris caused a segmentation error, followed by a core dump. This problem was introduced after an upgrade with fixpack 8.1.0.20, up to and including fixpack 8.1.0.28. This problem is fixed. IJ40088 The Jetty libraries, included in the MIB Manager component, are updated to Jetty 9.3.29. This upgrade addresses potential security issues. IJ40209 When running OMNIbus components from within a NOI 1.6.4 or later, container the following warning was displayed:- Warning: Failed to find tar in the following directories : /bin /usr/bin The code that caused the warning has been removed as none of the Omnibus components require the 'tar' utility. IJ40260 On SuSE 15 SP3 (Linux kernel 5), the context sensitive help button on the native desktop caused the following error message:- "Error: Cannot access this platforms binary directory: /opt/IBM/tivoli/netcool/omnibus/platform/linux5x86/bin" This is related to the work that was done to fix IJ29318 that was delivered in Omnibus 8.1.0.25.
