Abstract
This fix pack is a cumulative fix release and addresses some new APARs and internally found issues since the release of Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus 8.1.0 Fix Pack 25.
Download Description
Java 8 Important Information
This upgrade uninstalls the existing IBM Java 7 and installs the latest version of the IBM Java 8 JRE. If any of the Java 7 files were modified since the v8.1 installation, then these modified files are removed during the upgrade process, except for the java.security file. Before you perform the upgrade, back up these modified files to a private location, then after the upgrade reapply the modifications. The Java 8 java.security file has significant differences to the Java 7 java.security file. Review the default Java 8 java.security file and update it to comply with the existing settings in the Java 7 java.security file.
IBM Java 8 does NOT run on some older versions of operating systems, which include the following operating systems:
- AIX 6.1 before Tech Level 9
- Older versions of Linux (due to a GLIBC 2.7 requirement)
- Solaris SPARC 32 bit (IBM Java on Solaris SPARC is 64 bit only)
The following defect solutions are included in this release:
8.1.0-TIV-NCOMNIbus-FP0026
---------------------------------------
Syntax errors in the 'when' clause or variable declarations of a
trigger could cause the ObjectServer to crash. This problem has
been fixed.
IJ31119
When the HTTP and OSLC interfaces are enabled within OMNIbus it
is possible for external entities to be embedded in any XML based
request. These external entities present a potential security
issue and so parsing of such entries is disabled.
IJ31893
An HTTP request sent to the ObjectServer HTTP interface that
contains an invalid cookie header, such as one with unmatched double
quotation marks, could cause the ObjectServer to crash. This problem
is fixed.
IJ32645
Upgrade the IBM JDBC driver to version:
jConnect (TM) for JDBC(TM) 6.05 - IBM(R) Netcool(R) Build
8.1.0.26-JCON_V8.1.0_1
in order to be equivalent to the version shipped in Tivoli
Netcool/OMNIbus_GUI 8.1.0 Fix Pack 23 and DASH version 1.1.3.11.
IJ32751
If problem events are reinserted and resolved within the same IDUC
window, they might be reopened incorrectly. This race condition was due to the
multitier gateways fast-tracking inserted events, but not
reinserted events. The multitier gateways will now fast-track
both inserted and reinserted events to resolve this issue.
loading the accelerated_reinserts trigger into collection and
aggregation ObjectServers.
$NCHOME/omnibus/extensions/multitier/update/update81fp7to81fp26/update81fp7to81fp26_collection.sql
$NCHOME/omnibus/extensions/multitier/update/update81fp7to81fp26/update81fp7to81fp26_aggregation.sql
Also, the tblrep.def files for the collection and aggregate
gateways need to be updated to add FT_UPDATES to the replication
for the alerts.status, alerts.journal and alerts.details tables.
Refer to the product documentation for more details.
When password history restrictions are enabled the message
"Password does not meet the restriction requirements" was
incorrectly displayed under two different circumstances:
1. During the creation of a new user, if the new user ID was
reusing the user ID value of a previously dropped user, and the
password for the new user was previously used by the old
user, and so existed in the password history.
2. After a failed password change attempt due to password history
restrictions any attempt to alter the other user fields would
result in the message being displayed. This problem persists until
either a successful password change for that user or until the
ObjectServer was restarted.
This problem is now fixed.
IJ33447
To address possible security issues, the JRE for Tivoli
Netcool/OMNIbus V8.1.0 is updated on Solaris to IBM JRE 8.0 SR6
FP30 and on AIX, Linux, Linux for System z and Microsoft Windows
IJ33457
A new directory was added to .../omnibus/extensions. It
contains the database schema as well as the gateway maps and
table replication definitions that are required to enable an
ObjectServer failover pair to be configured so that the WebGUI
and DASH configuration data is replicated between the primary and
backup server.
This code is in support of APAR IJ33232 shipped in DASH version
1.1.3.11, and APAR IJ32041 shipped in Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus_GUI
8.1.0 Fix Pack 23.
To address possible security issues the libxml2 version included
in the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus v8.1.0 release is updated to
version 2.9.11.
Installation Instructions
Fixpacks are cumulative. The latest Fixpack can be applied to update OMNIbus core to the latest Fixpack version.
-------------------------
The latest version of Installation Manager is recommended and can be downloaded from
https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/index.html
imcl listInstalledPackages -features -long
which can be found in the following locations:
Windows: install_dir\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\tools
Linux and UNIX: install_dir/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/tools
imcl -c
Windows: install_dir\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\tools
Linux and UNIX: install_dir/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse/tools
IBMIM

-----------------------------------------
If your computer has internet access and you have an IBM Passport Advantage account, you can update packages directly from Passport Advantage.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and make
sure the "Search service repositories during installation
and updates" is checked.
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool
OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
---------------------
Extract the Fixpack into a new temporary directory, then specify the repository in the preferences before you update. Each package must be extracted into a new directory.
1. Start Installation Manager.
2. Under the Preferences option, select Repositories and add a
new repository. Give the location of the extracted
OMNIbusRepository/composite directory
3. Select the update option and select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool
OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
-----------------------------------------------------
If you have downloaded the ESD for Fix Pack 26, then:
1. Create a directory to store the files and extract the contents
of the .zip file into this directory.
2. After you installed Installation Manager either via
Administrator or Nonadministrator mode, run the update_gui
script to launch Installation Manager into the update panel
without the requirement of configuring the update repository.
3. If the script fails, or Installation Manager is installed in
Group mode, or you want to run in console mode, then you must
configure the update repository as described in the pervious section,
OMNIbusRepository/composite directory.
4. Select the "IBM Tivoli Netcool OMNIbus" entry from the list of packages to find updates for.
