Problem

Resolving The Problem

Before beginning, ensure that the current drivers have been downloaded and the driver diskette already created. This document assumes that this is a first time install of Sytos Premium.

  1. Run INSTALL.EXE from X:\OS2\ENG on the SYTOS CD.
  2. Click "accept" for the License Agreement.
  3. Confirm the prerequisites, then click "continue".
  4. Enter the serial number located on the back side of the Sytos Premium CD case. Click "continue".
  5. Select a directory to install. Default directory is Y:\SYPLUS. Click "continue".
  6. Choose your tape in the list and make it default. If drive is not present select IBM TR4 SCSI and make it default. Click "continue".
  7. Choose "ADD already installed" or if using a different SCSI controller for the tape drive select the controller in the list. Click "continue".
  8. Type a default tape set name of your choosing, then click "continue".
  9. Confirm the settings in the window then click "Start Installation".
  10. After the files copy to the hard drive, click "continue".
  11. Make sure the black radio button is on "Modify CONFIG.SYS", then click "continue".
  12. Create a backup of the CONFIG.SYS. The default back up name is CONFIG.BAK. Click "continue".
  13. Create Sytos Premium group, then click "continue".
  14. Read the Disaster Recovery Window, then click "OK".
  15. Shutdown OS/2 then restart.

The following steps are for tape drives not listed in step 6.
  1. After rebooting OS/2, open the Sytos Premium folder, located on the OS/2 desktop.
  2. Double click "Sytos Premium object".
  3. Click on the "setup" button or click "actions" then "setup".
  4. Click "IBM TR4 SCSI" to highlight it. Press the DEL button on the keyboard.
  5. Confirm deletion of IBM TR4 SCSI and click "OK".
  6. Click "New Device" at the left side of the window.
  7. Insert Tape driver diskette into drive "A:".
  8. Choose A: in the pull down window at the top of the screen entitled "Look for device drivers in".
  9. Choose the tape drive that you have installed. Click "Add Device".
  10. Choose ADD already installed. Click "OK".
  11. Ensure that the check mark is next to the tape drive you have installed. Then click "Add Device".
  12. Confirm the information in the windows and click "OK".
  13. Reboot the server.
