Product Documentation
Abstract
This document contains system requirements for IBM WebSphere Application Server Hypervisor V7.0 on IBM System z.
Content
Back to all V7.0 detailed system requirements |
This document describes the minimum product levels that need to be installed before opening a problem report with the WebSphere Application Server Hypervisor Edition Support team. Because other products frequently ship fixes, updates, and new releases, testing every configuration is not possible. In general, you can install and run with updates to supported products if those updates are forward compatible.
The following list identifies the products that are supported when WebSphere Application Server Hypervisor Edition runs on the IBM System z platform. It is not necessary to run these products on the same machine or operating system as WebSphere Application Server Hypervisor Edition.
Guest Operating Systems supported with 64-bit WebSphere Application Server |

Hardware Requirements | For Linux on IBM System z (64 bit WebSphere Application Server)

LDAP Servers using Stand Alone LDAP User Registry Configuration | Any LDAP directory server that supports the LDAP V3 specification rfc 2251 is supported. The following products were investigated and meet the specification if you are at the level indicated or higher:
For the LDAP servers not listed above that support the LDAP V3 specification, you will need to configure the LDAP server using a custom LDAP feature with an appropriate filter and you will need to obtain the appropriate filter information from your LDAP vendor.
LDAP Servers using Federated Repository Configuration | Any LDAP directory server that supports the LDAP V3 specification rfc 2251 is supported. The following products were investigated and meet the specification if you are at the level indicated or higher:
For the LDAP servers not listed above that support the LDAP V3 specification, you will need to configure the LDAP server using a custom LDAP feature with appropriate objectclass and attribute mappings that you need to obtain from your LDAP vendor.

For information regarding the supported WebSphere Application Server programming model, see the specifications and API documentation topic in the Version 7.0 Information Center.
Required details:
1 IBM provides the plug-in binaries for the selected Web server on the Linux x86 operating system.
2 Support is provided for the HTTP server functionality of this server only.
6 Information about using WebSphere MQ as the JMS Provider for WebSphere Application Server Version 7
7 When using an Oracle 10g Database with Websphere Application Server Version 7.0, the Oracle 11g JDBC Driver is required.

10Red Hat allows users to add any product to a virtual image that IBM ships inclusive of Red Hat Linux. So, there's no limit as to what is supported in terms of combinations of Red Hat Linux and other software.
Novell, conversely, allows users to ONLY add products to a virtual image shipped by IBM if the added product serves the virtual image itself, exclusively. This means that if a user adds a database server to WAS HV for SLES, that database must ONLY be serving the WAS HV instance, and may NOT be used as a general purpose database for a broader scope.
