Abstract
System requirements update for IBM Db2 11.1 Releases

Db2 11.1.4.7 (Release Date - 19 April, 2022):
Db2 pureScale instances
- IBM Spectrum Scale 5.0.5.8 bundled with Db2 11.1.4.7 dropped the support for the following list of the operating systems that reached end of support dates. This means Db2 does not support pureScale instances on the following list of the operating systems. Please be advised and plan to upgrade your OS to a supported level prior to installation of Db2 11.1.4.7:
- RHEL 7.5 (EUS 31 May, 2021)
- SUSE 12SP4 (EOS June 30, 2020)
Db2 11.1.4.6 (Release Date - March 10, 2021):
Db2 pureScale instances
- IBM Spectrum Scale 5.0.5 and Tivoli® System Automation for Multiplatforms (SA MP), a.k.a. TSA 4.1.0.6 bundled with Db2 11.1.4.6 dropped the support for the following list of the operating systems that reached end of support dates. This means Db2 does not support pureScale instances on the following list of the operating systems. Please be advised and plan to upgrade your OS to a supported level prior to installation of Db2 11.1.4.6:
- RHEL 6.x (EUS November 30, 2020)
- RHEL 7.1 (EUS March 31, 2017)
- RHEL 7.2 (EUS November 30, 2017)
- RHEL 7.3 (EUS November 30 2018)
- RHEL 7.4 (EUS August 31, 2019)
- RHEL 7.5 (EUS April 30, 2019)
- SUSE 11SP4 (EOS March 31, 2019)
- SUSE 12 (EOS June 30, 2016)

Db2 non-pureScale instances
- It is recommended all customers to have their Db2 instances running on the supported operating system level. Any Db2 case running on an unsupported operating system, which IBM believes that the issue is specific to the operating system, IBM might require the customer reproduce the issue in a supported operating system.
Db2 11.1.4.5 (Release Date - November 28, 2019):
Impact on operating system levels supported on Linux platform in future fix pack for Db2 instances using IBM Spectrum Scale.
Note: The following is only applicable to Db2 instances that use IBM Spectrum Scale.
Db2 pureScale instances
- With IBM Spectrum Scale 4.2.x reaching the end of support on 2020-09-30, the IBM Spectrum Scale bundled with Db2 V11.1.4.5 is the last one with 4.x stream.
Starting in the next Db2 V11.1 fix pack, Db2 will bundle with IBM Spectrum Scale 5.x stream. It is important to notice that RHEL 6.x and SLES 11.x have been dropped in IBM Spectrum Scale 5.x. This means that if your current pureScale instances are running on these older operating system levels, update to Db2 V11.1.4.6 must include an OS upgrade. Both the operating system and Db2 can be upgraded online using online fixpack update methods. Db2 non-pureScale instances
- Non-pureScale Db2 instances using IBM Spectrum Scale 4.2.x can continue with existing version.
However, please be advised of the following: - IBM Spectrum Scale's end of support date of 2020-09-30 for 4.2.x. Plan to upgrade to newer version 5.x prior to the end of support date. Spectrum Scale extended contract may allow for a longer support period, please verify your contract with Spectrum Scale support. - Operating System end of support date - specially for RHEL 6 and SLES 11. Any Db2 cases which require engagement with the Linux distro on operating system-related issues may require an upgrade of the OS to a supported level first. Plan to upgrade to a supported level prior to the end of the support date. Extended contract may allow for a longer support period, please verify your contract with the distros support.
