Synchronizing task in Rational DOORS for HP Quality Center Interface results in "Thread was being aborted" error

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to sync tasks in IBM Rational DOORS for HP Quality Center Interface results in the error "Thread was being aborted".

Symptom

Synchronization task does not complete the execution.

The error Thread was being aborted is displayed in sync summary.

Cause

Cause 1:
Rational DOORS for HP Quality Center Integration Server is under a particularly heavy load.

Cause 2:
The ASP.NET hosting process aborts this thread if the thread serving the request doesn't finish for a long time.

Resolving The Problem

You should increase the timeout period for ASP.NET on the DOORSTDIServices virtual directory:

  1. Open Internet Information Services ( IIS )

  2. Click on Default WebSite > Right click on DOORSTDIServices > Properties > ASP.NET tab > Edit Configuration > Application tab

  3. Increase the Request Execution Timeout period

Note: It will probably be set to 110, change it to 300

  4. Click Application Pool

  5. Right click on DOORSQualityCenterIntegrationAppPool > Recycle

You can now proceed with the sync operation.
