Switching the IBM Rational DOORS Database from the Rational DOORS client

Question

How to configure IBM Rational DOORS client to point to different IBM Rational DOORS Database?

Answer

For IBM Rational DOORS Client to point to a different Rational DOORS database, please try the following steps:

  1. Create a Rational DOORS Client shortcut on your desktop by right-click on Rational DOORS icon and select "Create a Shortcut"
  2. Right Click on the new Rational DOORS shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  3. In the Target field, under ‘Shortcut’ tab, point to the different database by adding -d 36677@<servername> switch

    For example: "C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\DOORS\9.2\bin\doors.exe" -d port@<database server name>
  4. Save the changes
  5. Now, double clicking the newly created Rational DOORS Client shortcut will open the new Rational DOORS database.

Note: A Rational DOORS 9.2 client cannot use a pre-9.0 database server.
