Stopping the Domino Compact task

Question

If there is a compact process running on the Domino Server, is it possible to stop this from running?

Cause

When the Domino compact task is running concurrently with Data Protection for Domino backup, it may cause the Data Protection for Domino backup to fail, which may crash the Domino server.

The following message might be seen in the Data Protection for Domino backup log:

Backing up database mail\testDB41.nsf, 41 of 801.
Backup of mail\testDB41.nsf failed.
Cannot backup a database while it is being compacted.ACD5702E A Domino
API error has occurred.
...
Backing up database mail\testDB222.nsf, 222 of 801.
Backup of mail\testDB222.nsf failed.
Cannot backup a database while it is being compacted.ACD5702E A Domino
API error has occurred.

Answer

To stop the Domino compact process, the TELL COMPACT QUIT command can be issued from the Domino Server console.
