Should there be a pe.jar file outside of the Engine-xx.ear for Iterim Fix 5.5.7.0-P8CPE-IF001?

Question & Answer

Question

The instructions in the readme for FileNet Content Manager - P8 Content Platform Engine 5.5.7 Interim Fix 1 (5.5.7.0-P8CPE-IF001) includes a step to copy the updated version of the pe.jar file from the location where you extracted the contents of 5.5.7.0-P8CPE-IF001 to the installation_location/ContentEngine/lib/pe.jar.  But there is not a copy of pe.jar included in 5.5.7.0-P8CPE-IF001

Cause

The pe.jar was not extracted from the Engine-xx.ear for this release.  Use the answer below until the readme is republished.

Answer

Since pe.jar was not extracted from the ear file for this release, you'll extract it from either Engine-ws.ear or Engine-wl.ear included in 5.5.7.0-P8CPE-IF001.
For example, if your application server is WebSphere:
  1. You'll find pe.jar in .../Engine-ws/APP-INF/lib/pe.jar
  2. You'll take a copy of pe.jar and place it in <installation_location>/ContentEngine/lib/pe.jar
The remainder of the instruction in the readme for 5.5.7.0-P8CPE-IF001 are correct.
