Security Bulletin
Summary
There are security vulnerabilities in versions of Linux Kernel that are shipped with versions of IBM Elastic Storage System. A fix for these vulnerabilities is available.
Vulnerability Details
CVEID: CVE-2020-10766
DESCRIPTION: Linux Kernel could allow a local authenticated attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by a logic flaw in the implementation of SSBD. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to turn off the SSBD protection.
CVSS Base score: 5.5
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/183195 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N)
CVEID: CVE-2020-10768
DESCRIPTION: Linux Kernel could allow a local authenticated attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by an issue when Indirect branch speculation can be enabled after it was force-disabled by the PR_SPEC_FORCE_DISABLE prctl command. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to perform a spectre v2 style attack.
CVSS Base score: 5.5
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/183197 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N)
CVEID: CVE-2020-10767
DESCRIPTION: Linux Kernel could allow a local authenticated attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by an error in the implementation of Indirect Branch Prediction Barrier is force-disabled when STIBP is unavailable or enhanced IBRS is available. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to perform a spectre v2 style attack.
CVSS Base score: 5.5
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/183196 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N)
CVEID: CVE-2020-10690
DESCRIPTION: Linux Kernel is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a use-after-free in the cdev_put function in the Precision Time Protocol (PTP). By removing a PTP device while chardev is open, a local authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition.
CVSS Base score: 4.4
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/180182 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H)
CVEID: CVE-2020-12888
DESCRIPTION: Linux Kernel is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by improper handling of attempts to access disabled memory space by the VFIO PCI driver. By sending a specially-crafted request, a local attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition.
CVSS Base score: 6.2
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/182003 for the current score.
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H)
CVEID: CVE-2020-15780
DESCRIPTION: Linux Kernel could allow a local attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by an injection of malicious ACPI tables in drivers/acpi/acpi_configfs.c. By sending a specially-crafted request, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to bypass lockdown and secure boot restrictions.
CVSS Base score: 6.2
CVSS Temporal Score: See: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/185453 for the current score.
