Summary

There is a vulnerability in the Neko HTML library used by IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty with the openid-2.0 feature enabled. This has been addressed.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID:   CVE-2022-24839
DESCRIPTION:   Sparkle Motion Nokogiri is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError exception when parsing ill-formed HTML markup in the fork of org.cyberneko.html. By sending a specially-crafted request, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition.

Remediation/Fixes

 IBM strongly recommends addressing the vulnerability now by applying a currently available interim fix or fix pack that contains the APAR PH48810. To determine if a feature is enabled for IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty, refer to How to determine if Liberty is using a specific feature

For IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty 17.0.0.3 - 22.0.0.10 using the openid-2.0 feature(s): 
· Upgrade to minimal fix pack levels as required by interim fix and then apply Interim Fix PH48810
--OR--
· Apply Liberty Fix Pack 22.0.0.11 or later (targeted availability 4Q2022).
