CVEID: CVE-2015-7547
DESCRIPTION: GNU C Library (glibc) is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow, caused by improper bounds checking by the nss_dns backend for the getaddrinfo() function when performing dual A/AAAA DNS queries. By sending a specially crafted DNS response, a remote attacker could overflow a buffer and execute arbitrary code on the system or cause the application to crash.

Affected Products and Versions
IBM XIV Gen3 systems running microcode versions 11.0 or later are affected.
Remediation/Fixes
The vulnerability has been addressed in releases 11.6.1.a and 11.5.2.a.
For other affected IBM XIV Gen3 versions, IBM recommends upgrading to a fixed, supported version/release/platform of the product.
As per the usual IBM XIV Gen3 microcode update process, please contact IBM Support to obtain the fix and to obtain assistance with updating the product.
