IBM Support

The scope of artifact identifier uniqueness

Question & Answer

Question

What is the scope in which the automatically generated numerical identifiers for test artifacts in IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM) are unique?

Cause

You are creating an automation that refers to artifacts of different types and artifacts from different projects.

Answer

Identifiers are unique for an artifact type across all projects, but they are not unique across artifact types. To uniquely identify an artifact within your repository, you need the artifact type and identifier.
