ScheduleOrder API is validating node capacity only on Estimated time of shipment

Question & Answer

Question

Why does ScheduleOrder validate node capacity only on Estimated time of shipment in IBM Sterling Management?

Cause

The capacity consumption only happens on the day of estimated time of shipment but not on the next business time.

Answer

OOTB Node capacity Feature does not support this use case of consuming capacity for order acceptance date. Product use case around capacity is control shipping and not the capacity to accept orders.

Workaround:
You can create custom resource pool and use the same for specific use case.

Custom Resource Pool Capacity Consumption: Consume capacity of required date as part of ScheduleOrder: ON_SUCCESS event.

Verify capacity while scheduleOrder: To verify capacity availability, you can implement getExternalCostForOptionsUE and reject the assignment if required on the basis of available capacity in custom resource pool.
