Running IBM Spectrum Control V5.4.5.2 checksum to verify installation images

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

After you download the installation images for IBM® Spectrum Control™ V5.4.5.2, verify that the images are not corrupted.

Content

To verify the installation images that you downloaded, run a checksum program to generate a checksum value and compare the result with the values that are listed in the following tables.

The instructions for running the checksum program are different depending on the operating system.

Windows operating systems:

You can use any Windows checksum program to generate the checksum value for the downloaded files.

For example, you can use the following command:

 C:\checksum_program download_file_name

Where checksum_program is the name of your checksum program and download_file_name is the installation image that you are checking.

Compare the value that is returned by the checksum command with the checksum value in the appropriate table on this page.

Linux operating systems:

Use the md5sum program to generate the checksum value for the downloaded files.

Run the md5sum command as follows:

# md5sum download_file_name

Where download_file_name is the name of the installation image that you are checking.

Compare the value that is returned by the checksum command with the checksum value in the appropriate table on this page.

AIX® operating systems:

Use the csum command to generate the checksum value for the downloaded files.

Run the csum command as follows:

# csum download_file_name

Where download_file_name is the name of the installation image that you are checking.

Compare the value that is returned by the checksum command with the checksum value in the appropriate table on this page.

OpenSSL on AIX and Linux operating systems:

If OpenSSL is already installed on these systems, use the following OpenSSL command to verify the checksum value for the downloaded files:

% openssl md5 download_file_name

Where download_file_name is the name of the installation image that you are checking.

Compare the value that is returned by the checksum command with the checksum value in the appropriate table on this page.
