Running IBM Rational Rhapsody on 64 bit Linux gives error "ccrc_xcleardiff: error while loading shared libraries: libMrm.so.3"

Question & Answer

Question

When running Rational Rhapsody 8.0.2 on SuSE Linux (64 bit), you get the following error: /opt/IBM/Rhapsody/8.0.2/Share/etc/ccrc_diff/linux/ccrc_xcleardiff: error while loading shared libraries: libMrm.so.3 cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Cause

The version of Rhapsody that is installed, is a 32 bit version and that requires 32 bit libraries to be installed on the OS. The 64 bit install of SuSE may be missing the 32 bit libraries. For example, the above library may be part of the package "openmotif22-libs-32bit" (Open Motif 2.2.4 Libraries).

Answer

Please ask your Linux Admin to install the 32 bit libraries e.g. in this case the "openmotif22-libs-32bit" package.

If after installing the 32 bit libraries, the issue persists then please contact IBM Rational Client Support for further guidance.
