RTAM not considering store cut-off time while calculating availability

Question & Answer

Question

Why does RTAM not consider store cut-off time while calculating availability in IBM Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Suite?

Answer

If you want the Real-Time Availability Monitor to compute and publish a matrix of available quantities and corresponding maximum ship dates, check the flag Compute Availability Information with Ship Dates for Real-Time Availability Monitor. You can specify a time for the maximum ship date and the number of days to offset the maximum ship date.

However, even with shipment date calculation, and a cut-off time, the availability will not be updated until RTAM runs.

For example:
If the cutoff is 4pm, and RTAM runs at 5pm, then between 4 and 5PM the available date will remain today at 4PM. At 5pm when RTAM runs, it will update inventory as 1 less available tomorrow. Again, Since RTAM uses thresholds, it will not update inventory when 1 item is purchased, rather an alert will be generated when enough inventory is demanded that quantity is reduced below the threshold.
