IBM Support

RMF/WEXP may not export the ending \n characters

Troubleshooting

Problem

IBM Rational DOORS Requirements Management Framework Add-on (RMF) /the Enhanced Word Exporter (WEXP) may not export the ending line breaks.

Symptom

RMF may not export the ending line breaks depending on:
- whether \n characters or paragraph breaks (\\par\\pard) are used,
- the type of column exported (layout DXL column or DXL attribute),
- the version of RMF used.

Diagnosing The Problem

This problem occurs when exporting DXL attributes (since RMF 6.1.0.5) and layout DXL columns (in all versions of RMF) whenever \n characters are used.
The \n characters at the very end of the DXL attribute (or layout DXL column) are not exported. The other \n are exported.

Resolving The Problem

WORKAROUND:

It is always preferable to use paragraph breaks instead ("\\par\\pard") when writing scripts for layout DXL column or DXL attribute as RMF/WEXP always exports paragraph breaks.
