Question & Answer
Question
I have an Guardium environment which GPU level is the latest (e.g. v9p200). Is it possible to use "restore db-from-prev-version" command to restore a backup which version is v9 and the patch level is lower than p200?
Cause
The "restore system" CLI command doesn't support restoring older version nor older patch level backup. We know "restore db-from-prev-version" CLI command is applicable for restoring v8.2 backup but it's not clear if it supports restoring older patch level of v9 backup.

Answer
Yes, it its. The "restore db-from-prev-version" CLI command was initially released for restoring a v8.2 backup to v9 environment, but now we have several Guardium cumulative patches (GPU - Guardium Patch Update), and this command is effective to restore any older V9 backup to the latest GPU level.
Here is a typical scenario of restoration using this CLI command.
1. Make sure that you have a backup generated by "backup system" command in Guardium v9 with patches under the latest GPU level, or v8.2. (e.g. v9p50 plus any of p5x ad-hoc patch).
2. Prepare a Guardium V9 environment with the latest GPU level (e.g. 9.0p200).
3. Run "import file" CLI command to import the backup file.
4. Run "restore db-from-prev-version" CLI command and follow the instruction provided by the command. You may want to choose the backup file, type, and also you'll be asked to update portal layout which is changed in 9.0p150.
