Troubleshooting
Problem
In IBM Cloud Pak System 2.3.2.0 for Power, when you restart the IBM Cognos 11.0.x.x virtual system instance after you apply IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.13.0 interim fix 1079 manually, the virtual system status and some middleware roles show up in ERROR state.
Symptom
As a symptom, in the IWDAgent\opt\IBM\maestro\agent\usr\servers\CMNodePrimary.xxxxxxx 0\logs\CMNodePrimary.xxxxxxx.Content_Manager_1-Part\trace.log file, the following entry is observed:
Analytics/common_util.py 1 pid=10748294 DEBUG Unable to locate a JRE. Please specify a valid JAVA_HOME environment variable.
Resolving The Problem
Complete these steps to address the problem:
Run the following commands on all the IBM Cognos virtual machines (Appnodes, CMPrimary, CMSecondary) as the cognos user.
Here, /opt/IBM/cognos is Cognos installation directory.
Note: You must run these commands after you install the interim fix by using ./ca_srv_aix64_11.0.13.XXXXXXXXXX.bin and before you start the Cognos by using the cogconfig command.
- cp -rL /opt/IBM/cognos/c11_64/ibm-jre/jre /opt/IBM/cognos/c11_64/jre
- touch /opt/IBM/cognos/patternBeingInstalled
When the cogconfig command operation completes successfully, you can start and stop the pattern instance.
