Red Hat Satellite 6.x shared service instance needs redeployment after IBM Cloud Pak System upgrade

Troubleshooting

Problem

Red Hat Satellite 6.x shared service is available with IBM Cloud Pak System.
Though the Red Hat Satellite 6.x shared service instance continues to run after the upgrade of the IBM Cloud Pak System, the Red Hat Satellite Six shared service instance does not work as expected.

Symptom

New vsys pattern instance deployment fails due to the unavailability of the registration server.

Existing vsys pattern instances continue to run, however, satellite repositories are not available for the virtual machines. It is because the virtual machines do not remain registered.

Resolving The Problem

Red Hat Satellite Six shared service instance needs redeployment (delete and deploy again) after the upgrade of the IBM Cloud Pak System.
New pattern deployments work fine, only after the redeployment of Red Hat Satellite Six shared service instance.
After the shared service is redeployed (deleted and started again), RHUS Client checks for shared service on all the existing virtual machines (Pattern Instances having virtual machines) at a frequency of 1 hour, and then re-registers existing virtual machines to the satellite server.
Till then, Satellite service and the corresponding repositories are not available to pattern instance virtual machines. You must manually register virtual machines to the Satellite server.

Note: On every virtual machine, the RHUS Client runs every one hour to check the availability of Red Hat Satellite Six shared service instances.
