Receiving Message PQT1012 for Product 57xxSS1 FC5112, FC5113 or FC5114

Troubleshooting

Problem

Message PQT1012 is being received for Product 5770SS1 Feature 5112, 5113, or 5114.

Symptom

Message PQT1012:  The grace period for using PSF without paying for it will expire in NN days on <Date> (G), for Product 5770SS1 and one of the following feature codes:
Feature 5112 - Product Option 36 PSF for IBM i 1-55 IPM Printer Support
Feature 5113 - Product Option 37
PSF for IBM i 1-100 IPM Printer Support
Feature 5114 - Product Option 38 PSF for IBM i Any Speed Printer Support

Cause

Print Services Facility, also known as PSF/400, is a licensed product that is automatically shipped and installed on IBM i systems.   Three product options are installed:
Licensed  Product
Program   Option   Description
5770SS1    36      PSF for IBM i 1-55 IPM Printer Support
5770SS1    37      PSF for IBM i 1-100 IPM Printer Support
5770SS1    38      PSF for IBM i Any Speed Printer Support
Each product option is associated with a feature code for the licensed key:
Product  Feature    Description
5770SS1  5112       PSF for IBM i 1-55 IPM Printer Support
5770SS1  5113       PSF for IBM i 1-100 IPM Printer Support
5770SS1  5114       PSF for IBM i Any Speed Printer Support
The licensed key is purchased and installed for the feature code.
PSF is activated when the writer for a LAN-attached IPDS printer is started.  If a licensed key is not installed, a 70-day grace period is activated, causing message PQT1012 to be issued in the writer's message queue.
The exception is a printer device configured for use with Infoprint Server, product 5722IP1, as Infoprint Server requires its own licensed key.  An Infoprint Server LAN *IPDS printer device description will use the Remote Location Name or Address (RMTLOCNAME) as 127.0.0.1.
History:
PSF is required for any IPDS printer device configured with Advanced Function Printing (AFP) as *YES.  Some older Twinax attached IPDS printers allowed AFP to be configured as *NO.  All LAN-attached IPDS printers require AFP as *YES, thus a licensed key for PSF is necessary in today's environment.

Resolving The Problem

If you have purchased a licensed key for PSF, visit the Entitled Systems Support (ESS) web site to get the key.
If you have purchased a licensed key for PSF and do not find it on the Entitled Systems Support (ESS) web site, contact your IBM Marketing Representative or Business Partner to ensure the paper work is complete.  Or, contact the Entitled Systems Support team.  From the Entitled Systems Support (ESS) web site, select CONTACTS in the left pane for the phone number for your region or send an email to wwswkeys@dk.ibm.com.
If you have not purchased a licensed key for PSF, contact your IBM Marketing Representative or Business Partner for pricing and purchase.
If the IPDS writers were started before the licensed key was added, end and restart all of the IPDS writers.
If message PQT1012 is still issued after ending and restarting all of the IPDS writers, verify the licensed key for PSF is installed correctly on the system.
Use the DSPLICKEY command.  For example:  DSPLICKEY PRDID(5770SS1) LICTRM(V7R4M0) FEATURE(5114)
**Replace the LICTRM with the correct release of the OS and FEATURE for the purchased licensed key
If the Usage Limit is *NOMAX, the Expiration date (EXPDATE) and Vendor data (VNDDTA) parameters should also be set to *NONE, unless the license is for a certain period of time.
Compare the License Key value to the value on the ESS web site
Add the licensed key again, even if the key appears to be entered correctly.  If the key is re-added and the IPDS writers were started, end and restart the IPDS writers again.

Note: As of IBM i 7.5, PSF is available at no charge and is included in the OS license. And, for all releases, if feature code 5114 is installed, customers do not need to install 5112 or 5113. as 5114 supersedes the others.
