Rational Rhapsody 8.0.3 reports that Telelogic License Server's FLEXNet library is not valid

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to use the Telelogic License Server with IBM Rational Rhapsody v8.0.3 results in the error: "There is a version mismatch between this application's FLEXNet library and the license server version."

Symptom

The complete error displayed is:

There is a version mismatch between this application's FLEXNet library and the license server version.
The version of the application's FLEXNet library is 11.8
The license server found is port@server and the version is 11.4.
A Supported configuration must have the server equal or higher than the application's FLEXNet library version.
Upgrading the license is needed.


Cause

Rational Rhapsody server libraries were upgraded. Previous versions are no longer supported.

Resolving The Problem

To Resolve the problem you must upgrade your license server as follows:

  1. Download the Rational License Key Server from Rational Product Releases
    Select any of the following versions:
      • IBM Rational License Key Server V8.1.3
      • IBM Rational License Key Server V8.1.2
      • IBM Rational License Key Server V8.1.1

  2. Update the license file.
    The new license server uses a new daemon process ibmratl.exe. This new executable is compatible with existing telelogic license features. However, to use your existing license with this new server, you need to ensure you have the following line present in your license key:

    VENDOR ibmratl

    After the SERVER line and before the license key features.

  3. Regenerate your license at Rational support: Licensing if any license features have expired.
    You can check the expiration date on the first line of each license feature section.
    For example:
