Abstract
Database engineers (DBE) understand the importance of not taking the default value for the ALLOCATE clause on columns with a variable length data type.
With this advancement to SYSCOLUMNSTAT, the DBE can leverage built-in statistical detail when making a decision on whether or not to adjust the amount of space dedicated in the fixed portion of the record.
