Troubleshooting
Problem
Trying to locate messages in the system history log related to a particular type of event can be difficult, due to the number of messages in the log and the number of messages related to the event or topic.
Resolving The Problem
QMGTOOLS has a history log "scan" function to find messages related to a particular predefined topic or event. The Scan History Log function can be initiated using any of the following methods:
- GO QMGTOOLS/MG, option 15, option 7
- GO QMGTOOLS/MG, option 16, option 3
- GO QMGTOOLS/WM, option 7
- GO QMGTOOLS/INTMNU, option 3
- QMGTOOLS/SCNQHST
Select one of the following options for the MESSAGES parameter to specify the type of event you are interested in:

Second, select the date range either by using the special keywords: *BEGIN and *CURRENT, or by specifying specific start and end dates using the current job's date format.
Finally, specify if you want the results displayed on the screen - '*', or if you want them spooled - '*PRINT'. The print option will always include second level help text.
