Answer
All of the FileNet Content Manager and IBM Content Foundation components that require a JRE can be used with IBM Java 8. However, a best practice for installing the Content Platform Engine is to use a JRE that is compatible with the application server on which Content Platform Engine is being installed. Some components can also be used with IBM Semeru Open Edition. The table shows which versions of IBM Java and IBM Semeru Open Edition can be used with the various components.
Component | IBM Java 8 | IBM Semeru Open Edition 8 |
IBM Semeru Open Edition 11 |

If using the JRE provided with an application server, contact the application server vendor to get the latest Java updates (including any security fixes).
For more information, refer to the FileNet Content Manager and IBM Content Foundation software compatible reports (SPCR) for details on the JREs that are supported with custom applications that use the Content Platform Engine's APIs. Use the following site to generate the reports: https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/index.html
