Abstract
APAR HU02406 can cause node warmstarts if a system has NPIV enabled, and is connected to a Cisco MDS 9000 switch, running 8.4(2c), 8.5(1) or later firmware.
Cisco 8.4(2b) and earlier firmware is not affected by this issue.

Description
Cisco 8.4(2c), 8.5(1) and later firmware modifies the switch behaviour when NPIV failback occurs. An extra FLOGO command is received by the Spectrum Virtualize node, and a timing window exists where this command is handled incorrectly and can result in a node warmstart.
Workaround
It is recommended to keep the Cisco switch at 8.4(2b) or earlier, until a fix for APAR HU02406 has been installed.
If the switch is already running 8.4(2c) or later, the risk of a node warmstart is low. Upgrade to a PTF with the fix for APAR HU02406 (when available) is recommended.
Fix
A fix for APAR HU02406 is available in Spectrum Virtualize PTFs v8.3.1.6, v8.4.0.5 and v8.4.2.1.
If an upgrade to Cisco firmware 8.4(2c) or later is urgently needed, contact IBM support to obtain an ifix for APAR HU02406.
