Abstract
On V8.4.0 software, changing the preferred node of a volume in a replication relationship may cause node warmstarts, and temporary loss of access to data.
This issue will be fixed under APAR HU02312 in a future PTF.

The issue may be triggered by using the movevdisk CLI command (or the GUI) to change the preferred node of a volume which is in a Metro Mirror, Global Mirror, Global Mirror with Change Volumes, or HyperSwap relationship.
Mitigation
Avoid changing the preferred node of a volume in a replication relationship.
If necessary, the volume's preferred node may be changed after removing the replication relationship. However, after recreating the replication relationship, a full resynchronization from the primary to secondary volumes will be required to restore DR or HA redundancy.
Fix
This issue been resolved in the v8.4.0.3 PTF.
