    DS8880 running 88.54.31.0 through 88.55.9.1.
    DS8900 running 89.2.xx.x and below

Description

Customers using z/OS backup and restore utilities that call FlashCopy with Preserve Mirror may experience a loss of access when restoring an object using those utilities.

Mitigation

If Multiple Incremental FlashCopy function is not needed, perform the following procedure;

  - Withdraw the FlashCopy relationship

  - Change the z/OS DEVSUP  settings as follows

          The keyword in DEVSUPxx  is: MULTINCRFLC(NO|YES)  Set to NO to disable Multi-Incremental FlashCopy

           Re-establish FlashCopy, which will cause a full copy on the initial establish

If Multiple Incremental FlashCopy function is needed, install the fix level(s) below.

Fix

Update to the following code levels:
DS8880:
R8.5 SP5.2 - 88.55.9.2 or R8.5 SP6 - 88.56.9.0 or higher

DS8900F: 
R9.0 SP3 - 89.3.6.0 or higher
